What do you do when your team's rescue boat needs replacing but as an independent lifeboat organisation you don't have the funds to do it?
In the case of Folkestone Inshore Rescue, you get hold of a set of hull plans, get a master carpenter and under the watchful gaze of a Lloyds Surveyor you build your own!
Folkestone Inshore Rescue are launching their new 7m rib after three months of construction this Saturday, 22 May, at 1700hrs in Folkestone Harbour.
Steve Thompson, a Folkestone Inshore Rescue spokesman said "Folkestone Inshore Rescue needed a new rescue boat, but being a tiny charity with very limited funds, there was no way they could afford one. The answer to the problem was actually quite simple though - they decided to build their own."
He then went on to explain how they needed to "beef up" the designs a bit to ensure it was up to the role of rescue craft.
Why not go along to support the team and give the boat, boatcrew and shorecrew a cheer!
