The SAR World Website

As you may have noticed, whilst this forum is up and running, the actual public website at the domain http://www.sarworld.org is not.
The idea of the SAR World website is that it is / should become one all encompassing "SAR World" community drawing in all the disciplines, from around the world. Ambitious stuff, eh? Obviously we are starting small, and as such a lot will be UK based and a lot based around the search we know. Hopefully, that will not last too long and we can start drawing in others to our "community".
The question is what sort of website should we have? What should be on it?
Some ideas so far include;
But if I, and the others (who are actually doing far more work than me on the website!) come up with all the ideas; it's not really a community.
So here's your chance. What would you like the SAR World website to be?
(And, possibly more importantly, what are you willing to do to help?)

SAR Volunteers Recruitment Page(s)
SAR Presentations / Papers / Articles

How about development in new kit and tools, or sources for them?
I guess you wouldn't want to show allegiance to one company or other, but a list of those recommended by us (the forum members) with examples could work?

Many SAR charities have been able to individually obtain discount for equipment from local companies. As one Larger group we can, maybe be able to approach larger internatonal companies for discount on equipment, supplies etc.

How about top tips and handy hints, especially with regard to maintenance of kit, and maybe a Q and A Page?

Do we need different sections on the website?
We already have lowland search, mountain rescue and lifeboat team members on here. Do we need different parts of the website to reflect each activity? Likewise do we need different sections on the forum for each?

Hi there,
RSS feeds are now enabled. It's a bit rough and ready but let us know what you think.

That is indeed the question, what do our members want?

That would be good, once the post count starts to ramp up we can create this.

If we were to have seperate areas . it is very probable each member will stick to there own area and not take notice of what is going on in others. But if it was to have say types of SAR (water, heights...) you can then look at these if you were interested in a specility rather than your teams activity.
