Team Profile - High Access Rescue Team (Scotland)

High Access Rescue Team at St Monans Sea Queen DayIt has been a while since we profiled a SAR team on here, so I asked John Kinsman, PR Officer of the High Access Rescue Team based in Scotland to tell us about his team...

The High Access Rescue Team is a charitable Company which provides an urban rescue service to Glasgow in Scotland and the surrounding areas. They specialise in rescues from high and inaccessible areas.

They are a team of dedicated volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, medical, rigging, management, communications, who have come together to form the high access rescue team. They have a range of skills including rope techniques, first aid and safety management. They bring together their skills to make an effective rescue.

Training and development is the key element of HART both for existing and new members.

High Access Rescue Team provides an urban rescue service to those in difficulty in high and inaccessible areas, such as tower cranes, window cradles or high structures. They have specialised skills and equipment which enables them to reach heights where the emergency services may have problems in accessing. They can provide first aid to people whilst at height in order to stabilise them before bringing  them down to safety. If you have people working at height, then you could have a potential problem should one of them take ill or have a accident whilst working.

Our volunteers give their time and expertise freely.

So far the team as helped raise over £100k for charities such a Children’s Hospital in Glasgow, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Help our Heroes. On Saturday June 12 some the team attended the St Monans Sea Queen Day at the village harbour and gave demos plus children the chance to abseil over across the harbour.
