Four weeks ago SARworld launched it's full website aimed at search and rescue professionals.
Since then the website has been visited by over 750 people with over half of those making more than eight visits to the site during that period. On average SARworld users spend over nine minutes on the site each visit and view more than nine pages.
Popular news and articles on SARworld since it's beginning include; Interviews with Donnchadh Mac Cobb, Kris Manning and Robert Bradley and also our SARworld photo competition. The team profiles of ATBRU and Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs have also been popular.
In our search and rescue forums several topics have got SARworld users talking including debate on a possible new logo for ALSAR, protection of the term SAR, Paramotor and Ultra Light Search and Rescue, Google Street View for search planning and whether SAR volunteers should carry knives.
The question now though is where does SARworld go from here? And we want to hear from you, the SARworld user!
The SAR Link Directory still needs working on, but from the SARworld team's point of view everything else has started out quite well.
We have slowed down on the 'news' content of the site; callout details and so on, as these did not seem popular and we are now concentrating on longer news and articles. But are we right to do this?
Would you like to see more longer news and articles pieces or do you think SARworld should be publicising team callouts though small news pieces?
In the longer articles what do you want SARworld to cover? More interviews? More team profiles? More technical pieces on search techniques, tactics and strategies?
Should SARworld be starting to do reviews? Of equipment? Software? Clothing?
Is there anything else you would like to see? SARworld was designed to be a "community" and so we need your comments...
On a separate note, thanks to some great advice we received from SARworld users we are exploring options for raising funds for the maintenance of the website. It is our intention to keep you informed of these when we do implement them and ask your opinion of progress. In the event, surplus revenue will be passed on to SAR charities through grants and donations.
So give us your comments...
